Cake
2 cups flour
2 cups sugar
1 stick butter
½ cup vegetable shortening
4 Tbsp cocoa
1 cup cold water
½ cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
½ tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
Icing
1 stick butter
4 Tbsp cocoa
5 Tbsp milk to a boil
1 tsp. vanilla.
1 box confectioner's sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
To make cake:
Sift flour and add 2 sugar. Set aside.
In saucepan, heat butter, vegetable shortening, cocoa, & cold water. Bring to a boil. Pour over flour-sugar mixture. Mix well. Add buttermilk, vanilla, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, & eggs. Mix well.
Pour mixture into a jelly roll pan. Bake 20 mins. At 400°F.
To make icing:
Bring butter, cocoa and milk to a boil. Add vanilla. Take off heat
Beat in confectioner's sugar. Spread icing over top of cake. Sprinkle with chopped nuts.
